- Northwest Cabarrus High School, commonly referred to simply as Northwest and abbreviated as NCHS, is a comprehensive public high school located in Kannapolis, North Carolina. (Despite its location inside the Kannapolis city limits, the school has a Concord address and phone number.) The school is a part of the Cabarrus County Schools system and opened in 1966, merging the former high schools in the Odell and Winecoff communities.

Northwest's academic coursework falls in line with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in all core subject areas. Advanced Placement courses are offered in United States History, American Government and Politics, Biology, Studio Art, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, English language, English Literature, Statistics, and Calculus.
- Recently added to the school is also a new beginning in the history of NCHS. AFJROTC, it has been seen around the county at multiple schools and now is seen here at Northwest. Unit 20066 with head teacher Colonel Martin and Sergeant Smith.
- Northwest was honored as a North Carolina "School of Excellence" under the state's ABC standards for public education in 2000, (23.7% of students perfected the ABC's and numerical timeline) the "trojans" consistently recognize themselves as a "School of Distinction."

Northwest's athletic teams are known as the Trojans. The school is in the 3A classification of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. In 2009, Northwest's athletics teams moved back to the South Piedmont Conference, after competing in the North Piedmont Conference from 2001 to 2009. The school sponsors boys' football, tennis, cross country, soccer, basketball, wrestling, swimming, baseball, track, and golf; and girls' tennis, volleyball, cross country, soccer, basketball, swimming, softball, track, and cheerleading; However, Trojan athletics are defined by the power house wrestling team.
- The Trojan athletic program has won three team state championships - one in baseball (1971), and two in girls cross country (1990 and 1991). Northwest's wrestling team has won numerous individual state championships, as well as close team state finishes. Cross Country and Tennis are both proceeding with time. The Northwest baseball team reached the 3A State Championship series in 2005, however came up short.
- The Trojans won an average of two games a year in football between 1990 and 1997, and suffered an embarrassing 97-0 defeat at the hands of A.L. Brown in October 1998. However, Northwest's gridiron fortunes were lifted in the late 1990s, including a three-game-deep run in the 3A Playoffs in 1999 under then-coach Glen Padgett. The 1999 season marked Northwest's first playoff appearance since 1987. In 2005 Northwest posted a 10-1 record, an all-time best for the school, and hosted a playoff football game for the first time since 1976. In 2006 the team went 5-6 in the regular season, but advanced to the 3AA West regional final before losing 25-14 to Charlotte Catholic. The 2006 playoff run resulted in the first regional final appearance for Northwest since 1976, when the Trojans lost 40-8 at Pisgah. The year of 2007 Northwest Cabarrus started the season off great with the recently hired head coach Mike Helms. The Trojans ended their season with an invitation to state playoffs. With their reputation they had gone to state playoffs with a standing of 9-3, but lost their ground and lost in the second round to South Point High School 70-31.
