    OBERLIN — In 2004, the late Dick and Nan Ninde, residents of Kendal at Oberlin, had a dream of improving access to college for Oberlin High School students. Five years later, the Ninde Scholars Program inducted its biggest class yet in October.

    OBERLIN — Twelve Oberlin residents are vying for seven nonpartisan Oberlin City Council positions, which will be decided during the Nov. 3 election. Of those 12 candidates, five are running for re-election from the last council term. Oberlin council members are paid $6,600 a year and serve two-year terms.

  • Oberlin High School is a public high school located in Oberlin, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Oberlin City Schools district.
  • The school colors are red, white and dark blue. The mascot is the Phoenix, after the school board recently voted to discontinue use of the Native American mascot, effective at the end of the 2006-07 school year.
  • There is a partnership between the high school and Oberlin College. Students who live within the district and attend Oberlin High School for their entire high school career may attend Oberlin College tuition-free, if accepted.
