Harvest Fest features candy hike (The Advertiser-Tribune)

An "enchanted trails" candy hike, pony rides, Gardener's Delight and archery are a few of the activities scheduled for the second annual Harvest Fest and Farmers Market 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Miller Conservation Farm. "Last year, we had at least 600 people go through our trails," said Ann Keefe, wildlife specialist with Seneca Soil and Water Conservation District, which hosts the event.

More than 200 people came to The Ritz Theatre for The Seneca Star Search Saturday evening. Judy Clem, chairwoman for the 2009 United Way campaign, and Pat DeMonte, executive director of Tiffin Seneca United Way, made brief welcoming remarks and explained the theme of this year's effort, "Pulling Together, Now More Than Ever." United Way's goal for this year is to raise $455,000.

Jim Bisenius, a child adolescent therapist for the last 16 years, shared tips about dealing with a bully with Tiffin City Schools children in grades 3-5 Tuesday morning. Bisenius said when someone is calling a child a name and the child feels butterflies in his or her stomach, the head should raise slowl.

The Technology Center in Fremont competed for the first time in State and National Skills USA competitions. In April at the state competition, seven Tech Center students took home gold and one took home bronze.
