An air of solemn respect filled Veterans Square during the Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday morning. Regardless of their attire, a similarity could be seen among several of the men and women present in the Square; an air of purpose, a sense of readiness even when standing relaxed and unhurried.

During World War II, Pfc. Lee Barton MacDonald of Rew served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. While stationed in Calcutta, India, he came down with an illness and was admitted to the 142nd General Hospital.
