See UHS for other uses of the initialism, or see Unionville High School for the school located in Markham, Ontario.
- Unionville High School is the only public high school in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District. It is located on the same property as Charles F. Patton Middle School and one mile from Unionville Elementary School, one of four elementary schools in the district. The Unionville-Chadds Ford District Office is located in the front of the high school.
- Academics
- Curriculum
-
Unionville has a 1:15 teacher-to-student ratio, allowing it to offer a wide range of both core and elective classes for its students. Its core departments- English, Social Studies, Math, and Science- are based on a four-tier system in order to allow for the variety of student capabilities, from First Level and Academic classes to Honors and Advanced Placement (only available to juniors and seniors); in an attempt to broaden its curriculum, recently the school began to offer differentiated classes within those tiers, such as a choice between an American Literature Survey and Contemporary Young Adult Fiction for 11th grade Academic English students. Every graduating student must take four years each of English and Social Studies and three years each of Math and Science, among other requirements.
- Achievement
-
Unionville High School has received state recognition for excellence and high achievement in preparing students for higher education; it consistently ranks as one of the top public high schools in the state of Pennsylvania, according to Pennsylvania's high school's standardized tests, the PSSAs, and in 2008 the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District had the highest PSSA scores in the State of Pennsylvania.
- According to a Newsweek list released in 2005, Unionville is the 687th best public high school in the United States.
- College Readiness
-
Unionville employs a 6-member full-time counseling staff, much of whose time is spent on the college application process, including meeting with every junior and senior at least once per year to determine their post-secondary educational needs and how the office can best facilitate them; 94% of graduating seniors in 2008 are currently attending college, 96% of which are four-year institutions
[. Additionally, Unionville's SAT results are significantly higher than the national average, with a combined average of 1716 on the 2400 scale in 2008][http://www.able.state.pa.us/pas/lib/pas/ PUBLIC_SCHOOL_SAT_2001-2008.xls]; there were 28 National Merit Finalists between 2006 and 2008, out of 46 Commended students [.]- Activities and Awards
-
Unionville High School has a total of 72 registered clubs (about one club for every 20 students), including five intra-school academic competition teams (such as Debate Team and Future Business Leaders of America), four honor societies, and several national and international organizations (such as Amnesty International and Habitat for Humanity), in addition to quirks such as the Bocce Club and the Unionville Signers (promoting the education of sign language)
[http://uhs.ucfsd.org/activities.php?id=96]. Most students are members of at least 1 club every year of their student career. - Unionville also boasts an active and award-winning music department; in 2007, its marching band won the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl Marching Band Competition in Jacksonville, FL, sweeping every category in both the field competition and the parade competition and winning a coveted spot in the game's pre-game show
[http://www.gatorbowl.com/images/GBA_1_1_08.pdf]. - Unionville's theatre department shows four performances every year, a comedy or drama in the fall and the spring, a musical, the largest of the performances in the spring, and an independent student produced production in May. For the 2007-2008 season, Unionville was given eight nominations for the prestigious Critics and Awards Program for High School Students, or Cappies, which are awarded to the best contestants in the Philadelphia area in several categories; the high school won four of the awards, including best comic actress, best ensemble, best set, and best actor, all for its interpretation of Arsenic and Old Lace

The plays for the 2008-2009 season are The Man Who Came to Dinner, Hello, Dolly, and London Suite, and the independent student production is a selection of skits from Monty Python's Flying Circus and Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. - Athletics
-
Unionville High School is home to many successful athletic teams. Unionville had been, consistently, a dominant team in the SCCL (Southern Chester County League); however, the league merged in 2006 with the Chest-Mont League. The Unionville Indians Football team was the 2005 and 2006 SCCL Champion, making back-to-back playoff appearances. In 2007 the football team won the Ches-Mont League American Division after going undefeated.
- Other athletic teams at Unionville High School are equally high-performing. In 2006, the Unionville High School Boys soccer team had the most successful season in school history. They pulled out wins over several top-ranked teams in the state, and made a run at the State Championship. They lost to Manheim Township, ranked 9th in the nation, by a score of 1-0. The Tennis teams at Unionville High School have also been very successful in past years, winning numerous back-to-back SCCL Championships. Since 2004 the Unionville Indians Lacrosse teams have developed, and been improving ever since. The UHS boys wrestling team also capped off their most successful season in recent school history in 2007, with multiple tournament championships leading to the Indians being ranked 3rd locally. As well as being ranked 8th in District 1, they look to improve on their current success and hope to capture a League title next season. The Girls Cross Country Team has won the SCCL title four years in a row (first out of ten teams) as of 2007, placed as a top five team in the district four years in a row (out of sixty teams), and a top ten team in the state for AAA (out of over 500 teams), again, four years in a row. The team was ranked by dyestat.com as the 20th best team in the nation in 2004. It is the only team in recent Unionville history to, in a single year, capture both a State Team Championship and an Individual Title (Katie Thaeder).
- In 2006, Paul Springer finished his cross country season as the runner up at the state championship meet and as a qualifier for the Footlocker Nationals. During his indoor campaign he was the state champion in the mile run, setting a state indoor record of 4:12. In 2004 Kyle Davis won the individual state title for men's golf. He was the second male to win the PIAA state championship from Unionville; Jeff Craig won the title in 1986. Davis also won league titles during his junior and senior year. The men's golf team had won 10 straight league titles and from 2001-2003 won the team district title, which is the highest level of competition for the team (no team state tournament).
