WEST CHESTER — Radnor and Archbishop Carroll are no stranger to each other in girls’ lacrosse. In a match-up that usually determines bragging rights for the season, Saturday night’s meeting at West Chester East High School meant more. It would determine who would be advancing to the PIAA Class AAA Sate semifinals.

Not many programs can equal the decorated history of winning that Unionville High School girls' lacrosse team has established over the years.Unionville has won over 500 games since its program was established, more than 20 league titles and is also a force come district playoff time.

WEST CHESTER — Boyertown had nothing to lose in Tuesday night’s opening round of the first-ever PIAA girls lacrosse tournament at West Chester East High School. The Bears came in as champions of a league that hasn’t earned a lot of respect in lacrosse and had just barely made it into states as the seventh and last seed from District 1.

West Chester East High School, home of the Vikings, is a four-year high school located in Chester County, Pennsylvania. It is one of three high schools in the West Chester Area School District. The core curriculum of English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science is offered on four levels (academic, honors, seminar and advanced placement) for college-bound students. English Literacy and Math Concepts courses are offered for less proficient students as well as basic-level courses in Social Studies and Science. Language classes include Spanish, French, German, Latin, Italian, and ESL (English as a second language).
National Honors: 2002 Science Bowl - National Champions/ 2003 Sceince Bowl - National Champions/ 2004 Academic Team - National Champions/ 2006 DECA - First place, five finalists, seven awards.
State Honors: 2003 Baseball - State Champions/ 2003 Swim Team - 3rd Place, States/ 2004 Boys' Soccer - State Runner-Ups/ 2004 Cheerleading - 3rd Place, States/ 2005 Baseball - State Finalists/ 2005 Swim Team - 3rd Place, States/ 2005 Boys' Cross Country - State Champions.
Mission statement: At East High School, we continue our journey toward increased cultural awareness. Construction Project: W.C. East began a construction project in 2003, which will end on October 27th, 2006. The construction involved a huge redevelopment of the entire school interior and campus. Additions were made for a science wing, new gymnasium, and auditorium addition. Also, new sports fields, including 43 acres used for all-purpose fields, were built to enhance the athletic programs. Harold Zimmerman Stadium was renovated to include a state of the art track and artificial turf field. The interior was renovated, including new music rooms, a new full size cafeteria, an overhauled auditorium, and a new television studio for the school's TV program WVIK.
Notable alumni: Bam Margera, professional skateboarder, creator of the CKY videos, starred on MTV's Jackass (TV Series), and Viva La Bam (dropped out).
