    All Aboard! Marion Main Street and the Marion Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to bring the Polar Express to Williamson County. From the weekend after Thanksgiving through December 20, 2009, a two-hour train ride will be offered for $10. Food vendors and entertainment will be on the train.

    MARION — Marion Junior High School boys basketball coach Mike Kraus emphasizes to his team that there is no such thing as mop-up time. Monday night was a prime example. The Wildcats' bench scored 42 points and held visiting Herrin scoreless in the second half as Marion routed the Tigers, 72-19, in a Big Seven Conference meeting.

    MT. VERNON — After a big overtime victory over Goreville the previous night, Marion Junior High School's girls basketball team showed no letdown against Mt. Vernon Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats scored the first 17 points of the game and never looked back en route to a convincing 39-16 road victory.

    MARION — In an early showdown of unbeatens, Marion Junior High School's eighth-grade girls basketball team overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to eventually get past Goreville in overtime, 48-40, Monday night.
