    The Attalla Board of Education announced the 2009-2010 Teachers of the Year at Thursday’s meeting. The teachers are Teresa Bolin of Curtiston Primary School, Mandy Streefkerk of Stowers Hill Intermediate School, Katey Blakely of Etowah Middle School and Wayne Gibson of Etowah High School.

Downtown is blocked off and vendors line the streets selling foods and crafts. This year’s event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the public is invited to enjoy the music and atmosphere. Best of all, it’s free.
