- White Station is a member of the Memphis City Schools system. The principal is Mr. David Mansfield. White Station is recognized as one of the best high schools in Memphis, as well as in all of Tennessee. Newsweek magazine ranked White Station as #1027 in the United States and #8 in Tennessee in its 2009 (for the 2009-2010 school year) edition of America's Best High Schools. White Station High School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2007. White Station athletic teams are known as The Spartan; the school colors are green and grey.

White Station is home to one of the nation's best high school boys basketball programs. The Boys are the State Championship winners of 2009. The Spartans are consistently ranked among the top ten high school basketball teams by USA Today. White Station also has a girls basketball team, soccer teams (M/F), track and field teams (M/F), baseball/softball teams (M/F), a football team (M), a lacrosse team (M/F). rugby club (M/F), a bowling team (M/F), a golf team (M/F), a volleyball team (F), cross-country teams (M/F), ultimate teams (M/F), a swim team (Co-ed), a wrestling team (M), and a tennis team (M/F). White Station's Lady Spartan volleyball team won the Memphis city championships in the 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons. The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams have won the Memphis city championship for 5 consecutive years.
- White Station has a school newspaper (The Scroll), an annual yearbook (The Shield), and an art-poem book, (The Scribbler), all staffed by students. The Scribbler is also entirely art and poems submitted by students. White Station has many active clubs in areas including foreign language, mathematics, science, business, government, music, art, film, community service, and more. There is an active Student Council organization, a jazz ensemble, a swim team, Model United Nations team, a Mock Trial team, a HOSA club, and student-produced morning announcements. White Station excels in local and national competitions of all varieties. White Station students hold many of the All-West Tennessee Band, Orchestra, and Choir positions. Many students even hold spots in the All-State ensembles and Memphis Youth Symphony. They also have an extensive theater program, with a troupe from the International Thespian Society. They are ITS Troupe 1581 and have major performances each fall, spring, and an annual one-act play festival early second semester.
- White Station also has a Knowledge Bowl team that has won 4 of the last 5 Knowledge Bowl championships. Their Mu Alpha Theta is considered one of the best of Tennessee and have won 1st regional and 2nd state this past year. Their Mock Trial team won the Tennessee State Championship in 2009.

Currently there are more than 2,210 students at White Station: 43% are African American, 46% are Caucasian, 6.1% are Asian or Pacific islander, and 2.9% are Hispanic. The graduation rate hovers around 85%.
- There are 20.7 students/teacher. White Station High School in 2008 had the most National Merit Scholarship semifinalists of any school in the state of Tennessee. White Station had a total of 52 students recognized in the National Merit Program.

All MCS students are required to wear school uniforms.
- Students wear oxford shirts, polo shirts, turtlenecks, and blouses with "Peter Pan" collars. All shirts and undershirts must be white with the exception of White Station-logo'd green and gray shirts. Sweatshirts and jackets may be colored be white, black, navy blue, or tan. No shirts, jackets or sweatshirts are allowed that have logos or visible brand names on them.
- Trousers, shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be black, tan, or navy blue. All shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be at least knee length. Denim clothing and sleeveless shirts are not allowed; similarly, flip-flops and backless shoes are also in violation of the uniform policy. High heels are forbidden if measured over 1.5 inches.
