  • La Habra High School is a public co-educational high school located in the Orange County, California city of La Habra. Located between the Coyote Hills to the south and Whittier Hills to the north, LHHS opened in 1954 and graduated its first class in 1956. It is a California Distinguished High School and has been nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School. Some of its special programs include Heritage of the Americas and being a college prep magnet program. The school is a member of the Fullerton Joint Union High School District. LHHS absorbed a majority of the students from nearby Lowell High School when it closed in 1980.
  • Athletics
  • La Habra's sports teams are known as the Highlanders. They are members of the Freeway League in CIF Southern Section, along with the five other high schools in the Fullerton Joint Union District. Their primary rivals is crosstown Sonora High School. La Habra holds a 25 to 7 edge in the annual football game between the two.
  • The Highlander football team won back-to-back Division IX championships in 2002 and 2003 and also won in 2007 and 2008 Led By coach Mazzota, and was runner-up in 1983 and 2000.
  • The La Habra girl's volleyball team won three consecutive state Division II titles from 1989 to 1991, and won Southern Section II-A titles in 1998 and 2000.
  • The baseball team won league championships in 2004, 1996 and 1988.
  • The boys' swimming team won the Freeway League Championship in 1975.
  • Fine Arts
  • La Habra High School is also known for their dedicated music and drama departments, which are part of the Fine Arts Conservatory Experience (FACE) program at the school. They have award-winning marching, symphonic, and jazz ensembles under the leadership of Phil Wightman. Their choir program is lead by David V. Montoya, who also teachers guitar and AP Music Theory, and is the adviser of the school's Ukulele Ensemble. Brian Johnson leads the La Habra High School Theater Guild, which has performed award-winning productions of W;t (which won the OC Cappies award for Best Play in Orange County, The Pajama Game (2007), The Music Man (2008), and most recently, The Miracle Worker. Beauty and the Beast was staged in March 2009. Also La Habra Just finished their last production of the year, 12 Angry Men(2009)
  • Marching Band
  • The La Habra High School Highlander Marching Band has been under direction of Mr. Phil Wightman since 1995. The band has continued to grow in size every year since his arrival. The band is now over 100 students for the first time since the early 1980's when Lowell High School (another school in the district) closed, and many of the students from Lowell then transferred to La Habra.
