On the heels of competing in the recent Sonoma County League Championships, the Sonoma Valley High School boys' and girls' varsity cross country teams - directed by co-head coaches Butch Alexander and John Litzenberg - are set to run in the North Coast Section Division III Meets, which take place tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 21, at Hayward High School.

On a sunny fall Wednesday afternoon with sparse clouds, but plenty of excitement, Sonoma Valley High School's boys' and girls' cross country teams ran in the highly competitive Sonoma County League Championship Meets on the 3.05-mile Spring Lake course in Santa Rosa.

Glenn Nobmann of Sonoma, died on Nov. 19, 2009, of complications from Alzheimer's. He was 86 years old. Glenn was born on July 26, 1923, in Albion, the only child of the late Horace Nobmann and Pansy Wainwright Nobmann. He was a third generation native Californian.

Sophomore cross-country runner Amber Peirsol added another chapter in Windsor High School sports history on Saturday, capturing fifth place overall at the North Coast Section Championships at Hayward High School.
