  • Opened in August 1994, Ridgeview High provides a strong curriculum for all students. Graduates are qualified to enter the UC or CSU systems directly or select from the broadest post high school educational and training options. Ridgeview's diverse student population is representative of the general population of the city of Bakersfield. At each student's appropriate academic level, school-wide goals focus on improving skills in reading, math and writing. GATE, Honors and Advanced Placement classes are offered in Math, English Science and Social Studies. Tutoring is offered four afternoons after school and on two evenings each week. Student's are referred to as the "Wolf Pack," since the school's mascot is a wolf.
  • Miscellaneous Information: AP classes are offered in world history, statistics, calculus, government, U.S. history, English literature, Spanish 4 and Spanish 5 (literature) and biology. • Special Services and programs are offered through Special Education, Gifted and Talented Education, Vocational Education, 504/Student Assistance Teams, Regional Occupational Programs, Migrant Services, Title I and AVID. Average class size in 9th grade English and math classes is 20. Students serve as tutors to students at Loudon Elementary Schools. California Partnership Information Technology Academy, grades 10-12. All freshmen complete a required semester-long class in career planning and technology. Seniors can take the year-long Virtual Enterprise. All students review their transcripts and update their four year plan each semester. Classes in technology include graphic arts, keyboarding, computer applications I and II and web design. The Commercial Art and Web Design classes on campus are supported by the Regional Occupational Center. Fine Arts classes include drama, beginning and advanced art, creative arts, ceramics, instrumental and choral music, color guard, flag team, forensics, digital photography and commercial art. Student leadership opportunities are available through Class and ASB Councils and through participation on any of the 47 clubs and 39 athletic teams.
