  • McNeil High School (commonly MHS, or McNeil) is a public secondary school in Round Rock, USA serving freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The school is part of the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD), with admission primarily based on the locations of students' homes in the district. Students at McNeil attended one of two middle schools: Cedar Valley or Deerpark. The school colors are navy blue,forest green, and white, and the mascot is the Maverick.
  • Mission Statement: The mission of McNeil High School is to provide a flexible environment which transcends the traditional high school in order to develop quality individuals who: • strive for excellence, • are open-minded and resourceful, • are creative, responsible, and cooperative, • are problem solvers, decision makers, and adept negotiators, • pursue lifelong academic, cultural, and physical learning, • have a sense of community and global awareness, • are technologically literate, and • can govern themselves.
  • In the news: In the 05' - 06' School year when students evacuated from hurricane Katrina were attending McNeil High School a stabbing occurred. The student who was stabbed is still attending McNeil High School, and the stabber was removed from the High School. The in the 1st Semester of the 06' - 07' School Year 2 Students were arrested for planning a Columbine type capital murder, but never went through with it. The media covered both of these events very extensively.
  • Engineering Academy: The Round Rock ISD Engineering Academy is located at McNeil High School and was founded in 2001. This four-year pre-engineering program consists of a comprehensive series of courses designed for high school students with an interest in the field of engineering, and features pre-engineering curriculum from Project Lead the Way and the Infinity Project. This non-selective Academy serves the entire school district, and students interested in participating in the Engineering Academy program are eligible to transfer to McNeil High School to participate.
  • Health Science Academy: The Health Science Technology Academy at McNeil High School provides a comprehensive array of courses designed to prepare 9th – 12 grade students for a career in the health care field. This includes the four-year coherent sequence of Health Science Technology courses, as well as a selection of classes that provide for exploration and certifications in specific areas of interest to students of all levels. Students eligible for enrollment are those whose home school is either McNeil High School or Westwood High School.
  • Music: The McNeil High School band, orchestra and choir participate in several competitions throughout the year, including regional and statewide UIL competitions. The groups consistently place highly during these competitions.
  • The 2007 McNeil Maverick Marching Band Show is being written by Daniel Montoya Jr., but because of certain reasons nothing will be revealed on this site until August 2007.
  • During the 2006 marching season, the McNeil Band performed a popular and successful show, Saturday Morning Overtures. This show featured music from Rossini's The Barber of Seville and William Tell. The main premise of the show was to remind viewers and listeners of their childhoods through the music that played a prominent role in cartoons and television shows.
