Just days after offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb from Lake Braddock High School had committed to Penn State, Miami took a commitment from linebacker Travis Williams from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk.

The Gloucester High School girls’ volleyball team dominated Denbigh in its 2009 Peninsula District opener at GHS on Monday. The Lady Dukes won in straight games, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-10.

NORFOLK A former Granby High School teacher was sentenced Tuesday to 23 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to downloading child pornography at his home. Shon M. Walter, 50, asked U.S. District Judge Jerome B. Friedman for leniency, citing psychiatric and family issues. The judge refused, noting the particularly disturbing nature of the pictures found on Walter's computer.
