I loved this school. I've been there since preschool anD spent nine years there. The staff is friendly, and even when I used to get into trouble, they helped me to control my anger. I knew almost all of the staff there. My first grade and fourth grade teachers, Ms. Namora and Ms. Duff both retired, with my fifth grade teacher Ms. Tofft leaving to teach other teachers. My sisters went there too. The school is gaining new opportunities each year, with some weeks being music, others art, dance, and P.E every Thursday with Mr. G. I've personally never been to any of the after school programs, but my classmates have. LA's BEST offers tutoring and fun activities, and snacks. EYS is a program that has kids do their homework before playing (save for Fridays), and goes upstairs after LA's BEST for a 30 minute snack before coming back downstairs. The school has a computer lab and tablets, which students can learn to use during fifth grade. The tablets are mainly used for testing. The library is separated into sections; the Preschool-Kindergarden section, First-Third, and Fourth-Sixth, I think it was. Kids who excel at reading can get books of their level. The librarian is Mrs. Campoy, last time I was there. She is the wife of Mr. Campoy, my sixth grade teacher. The principles there were kind, and strict when the need for it came. You can get Lion Tickets for the class. Ten yellow ones mean that you get to go to the principles office and get something out of a small prize chest. Twenty blue tickets mean that the class gets a popcorn party. I don't know if it changed with Ms. Morlean gone, and Ms. Kim there. There is a small yard made specially for the preschoolers. There is an afternoon class, and the morning class. The special Ed kids either go to the apparatus or inside the yard (not while the preschoolers are there) after sixth and fifth grade lunch. There is a yard outside of the office, called the Literacy Garden. Kids who don't do their homework sometimes have to sit there and do it while the class is in the computer room. It's a beautiful garden. For the Holidays, we have a Dia de los Muertos celebration, Halloween parade, class activities for Thanksgiving , a Christmas singing with a fireman dressed as Santa Clause coming in on the upper yard on a firetruck a few days earlier, celebration of the Chinese New Year in some classes, class activities for Valentines, Easter, and St. Patrick's day, on Mothers Day and Fathers day, the children can write a card to their loved ones, and on Children's Day, the parent volunteers make special gifts for the kids, and on International Day, we do a dance that represents our love for different cultures. If you are a Christian, you don't participate, and have the choice to watch the shows or g home early. The parents volunteers play a major role in our school society. Without them, none of this may be possible. I never really got to properly say thank you to everyone, but I really loved that school, and while I am enjoying Middle School, I will never get over the fact that they kept on helping me, while everyone else gave up. I love my old teachers, and respect them. It isn't a perfect school, but with your help, it can be. Thank you to all of my old teachers. I hope you keep on teaching the new generation with the same love and passion as you taught me and my peers.
