Worthington School sees absence spike (Parkersburg News and Sentinel)

PARKERSBURG - Health officials are testing some students at Worthington Elementary School for H1N1 after seeing a spike in absences and flu-like symptoms. Teresa Bayer, health coordinator for Wood County Schools, said Tuesday about 60 students were absent from Worthington School, which serves about 217 students in kindergarten through fifth-grade.
Schools to hold Mini-Relay for Life events (Parkersburg News and Sentinel)

PARKERSBURG - Schools throughout Wood County will be holding fundraising events in the coming week to generate funds for Relay for Life. The Mini-Relay for Life events come in various shapes and sizes, but all share the common goal of raising money for cancer research. The Parkersburg Relay for Life will be held May 15-16 at City Park in Parkersburg.

PARKERSBURG - The halls of Worthington Elementary School are a little less bright Monday as students mourn the loss of a classmate and friend. Eleven-year-old Patrick Kincaid Jr. died early Saturday after undergoing open heart surgery last week to replace a faulty valv.
