Dr. Paul Blanford began his tenure as district superindendent on July 1, 2008 after the retirement of Dr. Dennis Richards, longtime superintendent. The principal is Mr. Thomas Chambers, and the Assistant Principal is Mr. Mark Weddig.

Black River Falls High School offers a variety of courses including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Family and Consumer Education and more. A variety of co-curricular clubs are very active, including its FCCLA chapter and its yearbook, the Breeze, which regularly achieve state and national honors. Black River Falls also has a large technology education department that includes CAD, Woodworking, Metals, and Auto Mechanics.

Black River Falls is a Division 2 High School in the Coulee Conference. Other teams in the conference include Arcadia, Gale-Ettrick-Trempeleau, Onalaska Luther, Viroqua, Westby and West Salem. Sports offered at Black River Falls include Football, Basketball, Cheerleading, Baseball, Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country, Track, Wrestling, Golf, Softball, and Hockey. In the 2007 spring season, the BRFHS Golf Team qualified for the state meet, finishing 7th out of eight in the competition.
