  • Cypress Bay High School is a secondary school located in Weston, Florida which teaches grades 9-12. The groundbreaking for the future site of CBHS occurred in early 2001, and construction was finished in record time by late 2002. The school offers a broad range of academic pursuits including but not limited to Advanced Placement (AP) course selections, Honors course selections, and an impressive array of both academic and extracurricular student clubs and organizations. CBHS enrolls over 5,000 students, making it the largest high school in the state of Florida and one of the largest nationwide. It is conviniently located adjacent to Falcon Cove Middle School, another distinguished educational center in the city of Weston.
  • An annex has been used by the school for the 9th grade since the 2003-2004 school year in order to alleviate overcrowding. A new building was also completed in the main campus to accommodate more students beginning 2005-2006 school year.
  • The class of 2004 was the first ever to graduate from the school. The graduating class of 2006 is the founding class and the only class to have been to Cypress Bay (main campus) for all four high school years.
  • Achievements: The school has received a grade of "A" each year since it was inaugurated. This ranking is based on the students' performance on the FCAT (Florida State Academic Evaluation Exam). Each May approximately 120 students take the Calculus AB/BC exam with 100% passing rate. Cypress Bay has the highest number of students passing the AP French test in the world. The school's baseball,soccer, and swim teams have won state championships, and many of its other teams have won district competitions in their few years of operation. The school's Mu Alpha Theta (math team) took 6th place this past summer at the National Convention in Fort Collins, Colorado.
  • Clubs: Cypress Bay High hosts a multiplicity of clubs and extra-curricular activities. Each are run by an individual teacher and hold meetings before or after school hours.

  • Scandals: During the 2005-2006 school year, Marketing teacher Alex Anninos allegedly had a six-month sexual relationship with a 17 year old student. Anninos resigned shortly after the relationship was revealed. In the 2006 school year, a security guard whose mother is currently teaching at Cypress Bay had sexual relations with another 17 year old student.
