    MARTINSBURG - Once a school for Berkeley County's African American youth, the Sumner-Ramer Center now stands as a tribute to those who attended the facility. The school opened its doors in 1865 and remained in operation until the early 1960s, when local schools were integrated as the result of a landmark Supreme Court decision known as Brown v. Board of Education.
