The Pirates have won a record 5 consecutive San Diego Section CIF Championships in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 led by Coach John Caroll; as well as the record for most San Diego Section titles. In 2007 Oceanside was the 1st San Diego Section team to appear in and win a California Div II State Bowl Title. They finished the 2008 season ranked #19 nationally (USA Today) w/ a 12-0-1 record.
- The 2009 Pirates are currently ranked 5th in the states top 25(calhisports ESPN)& 36 in the nation (ESPN FAB50). They are also ranked #1 in San Diego Section (North County Times/San Diego Union Tribune).In 2009 the Pirates will be a contender to represent the Div 1 South in the CIF Bowl games. They're currently 2nd in Div 1 CIF Bowl standings & 4th in Open Div Bowl standings.

- Willie Banks - Former world record holder for Track & Field. Triple Jump and Long Jump
- Willie Buchanon - Former Cornerback for the San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers.
- Will Buchanon - Son of OHS standout Willie Buchanon currently w/ The Carolina Panthers organization as a WR. Has played for Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants.
- Joe Salave'a - Former Defensive Tackle for the Washington Redskins now a defensive assistant coach at San Jose State University.
- Junior Seau - Linebacker for the New England Patriots. Played for Miami Dolphins and drafted by San Diego Chargers.
- C.R. Roberts - Former Runningback for the San Francisco 49ers.
- Charles Dimry - Former Cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 12 year career.
- Terry Vaughn - Wide Receiver who played collegiately at University of Arizona. He's the CFL's all-time leading receiver with 1,006 catches and has played in five Grey Cups, winning two.
- Sale Isaia - Played for the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.
- Pulu Poumele - An Offensive Lineman, he was waived by the Baltimore Ravens in 1996 before being placed on injured reserve with the San Diego Chargers in '97. He played with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts from 1998-99. Now head coach of his alma maters rival school El Camino High School.
- Bill Sandifer - He played for the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks over the course of his 5 year career.
- Gary Thomasson - OF-587, 1B-163, DH-1. Selected by San Francisco Giants in 7th Round (160th overall) of 1969. Played 4 seasons in the Minors and 9 seasons in the Majors for San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
- Thad Bosley - OF-719, DH-30. Selected by California Angels in 4th Round (82nd overall) of 1974. Played 12 seasons in the Minors and 14 seasons in the Majors for California Angels, Chicago Whitesox, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers.
- Chris Chambliss - 1B-1962, DH-24. Selected by Cleveland Indians in 1st Round (1st overall) of 1970. Played 2 seasons in the Minors and 17 seasons in the Majors for Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves.
- Lee Guetterman - P-681. Selected by Seattle Mariners in 4th Round (80th overall) of 1981. Played 11 seasons in the Minors and 11 seasons in the Majors for Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals.
- Barbara Mandrell - Country singer. Former Miss Oceanside. Graduated from Oceanside High School in 1967.
