    Tara and Brian Thompson, of Tuolumne, moved from the Portland area and have taken advantage of life in the countryside by raising livestock such as pygmy goats and turkeys. The Thompsons brought their two birds, Tripp and Fin, who weigh in at just under 50 pounds each, to visit students at Summerville Elementary School.     FRIDAY 12:02 a.m., Tuolumne — A deputy saw a boy walking on Carter Street who appeared to be high on marijuana. He was taken home and released to his father.

    William “Bill” Brown, of Copperopolis, died Sept. 4 at a Sonora hospital. He was 78. Born in Shelton, Wash., Mr. Brown was a 15-year resident of Copperopolis. Before that, he was general manager of Lifetime Pools in Palo Alto for 27 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
