Traditionally, the Cañon City High School boys basketball team has not been a tall team. That definitely has changed. In the South-Central League, most teams have a player, maybe two, over 6-foot-5.

College student, volunteer and role model — Cory Batty stays busy with the many entities he is involved with in the community. Batty, 20, never has an idle moment.

Saying the Cañon City High School wrestling team is going to be young in 2009 would be an understatement. This season, the Tigers are returning just two seniors and six juniors and the varsity team will feature more than 20 freshmen.

Every year, the Cañon City High School carpentry class looks forward to a major homebuilding project. For the past two years, they have been working hand in hand with Habitat for Humanity. This year, they began with the Brookside Community Center.
