School Reviews

5   1/10/2011
CHS is an above average school for academics and has about 150 students per grade. They have a good selection of classes and adequate AP programs. Their chemistry program is superb. The admistrations put a very heavy emphasis on standardized testing. The entire sophmore program comes to a screeching halt in order to cram for the CAPT test. The academic program is very structured, especially for Freshmen. Students are not allowed to learn their own way. One teacher assigns and grades flashcards! No late homework is accepted which means an unmotivate student will not attempt to complete the late work for reduced credit. The school has many clubs. The music program is excellent and students have several opportunities to perform. There are no theatre classes or clubs and only one performance (musical) per year. There are many sports teams for both girls and boys. Cross Country team is very successful. Most of the students have been together most of their lives and it can be difficult for new students to assimilate. It appears that a group of students have been annointed by the faculty & admistration and they are the ones that are always singled out for recognition and opportunities. This school needs to work at making every student feel important.
