BRISTOL — Bob Watson began coaching in the start-up Forestville Little League in the mid-1950s and remained with Little League to the very day he died at age 80, at home in Plainville Tuesday. A man dedicated to youth, Watson became a beloved legend at the local, state and national levels.

Marjorie Borders was a trailblazer with deep Hartford roots. Her grandfather owned a plot of land in the southern part of the city, which was possible at the time because he looked white. One uncle taught at Howard University in Washington, a pre-eminent black institution, while another founded the Urban League in Boston and Washington.
