Interest in Purple Pro ductions, the drama club at Schaghticoke Middle School (SMS) in New Milford, has escalated to the point to the extent that adviser Andrea Cappiello had to make some "cuts" last year because 140 students sought fewer positions for the production of "Willy Wonka Jr."

New Milford Republicans, with Patricia Murphy leading the ticket to win, by a 3-1 ratio, a fourth term as mayor, not only held their own but wrested five seats from Democratic incumbents on major boards as well in the municipal elections this week (see story above).

New Milford's mayoral campaign approached the 11th-hour with Republican incumbent Patricia Murphy greeting voters by the post office and sending a huge mailing as she seeks to become the first person to win a fourth term in that office and her challenger, Robert Coppola, a Democrat who has been endorsed by New Milford First, increasing his door-to-door visits and distributing tote bags.
