RIDGEFIELD -- The Board of Education seemed on the verge Monday of abandoning any attempt at reconfiguring its elementary and middle school classes, despite declining enrollment numbers that one board member called "pretty sobering.''The board has been mulling over a thick book of data on its pre-K through 8th-grade classes compiled by a committee after five months of work.

RIDGEFIELD -- After about five months of work, the committee that's been studying how the town's K-8 classrooms might be re-configured will make its first public presentation on Monday.But schools superintendent Deborah Low wants people to understand it will be the Board of Education that will make the decisions, not the committee.
