  • Headmaster Suspended: Shelton High School Headmaster Donald Ramia was suspended for five days without pay for allegedly grabbing a housemaster by the arm and speaking in a loud, threatening, profane manner during an argument. According to Robin Willink’s letter, on May 18, 2006 Ramia was in a meeting with his housemasters, or assistant administrators, and two of the housemasters expressed dismay over Ramia not informing them promptly of a prior incident, in which an unauthorized visitor carried a weapon onto the high school campus. The visitor turned out to be a police officer from another jurisdiction, visiting his wife, a teacher at the school. The discussion about Ramia’s handling of the incident became heated, and one housemaster attempted to leave the room, according to Willink. During Willink’s investigation and questioning of Ramia, Ramia denied grabbing the housemaster’s arm, but acknowledged blocking the doorway so the individual could not leave. Ramia allegedly said he didn’t recall specific swearing, but said "administrators at the high school frequently use profanity behind closed doors" and he "did not see any harm in swearing," Willink’s letter to Ramia says.
  • Computer Science: Shelton High School has a "computer science" program... The Connecticut Post calls it, "One of the best funded and excellent engineering/"science" programs in the state". It has also been mentioned in the New York Times as "A program that every teenager should be "exposed" to" The program is heavily funded and insructed by two "teachers". It offers four years of programs, including AP Computer Science AB.
