  • Athletics
  • The Lake Worth High School mascot is the Trojan and colors are Maroon and White (and also Gold pre-2000). The Trojans perennially have struggled to maintain success due to various issues. The Trojans haven't come close to winning a state championship for decades in football and in basketball have struggled to maintain the early success of the 2000s which lead to two county scoring champions (Sam Barber and Anthony Marshall) and a Final Four appearance in 2002.
  • Although perennially talented, academic issues have held back many of Lake Worth's great athletes in more recent times, leading to transfers and disappointing seasons. In 2006, the Trojans were lauded to make major noise in 6A with Fab Five honoree A.J. Green and Sophomore sensation Sammy Emile. Many likened both players to former Lake Worth greats such as Barber and Marshall. Green subsequently missed his entire senior season due to academic issues after being lauded as the top player in the county. After a spectacular freshman season for Emile, he also missed the same season and subsequently transferred to a prep school. After losing these two stars, other players became disillusioned at Lake Worth and transferred to other schools, including rival Santaluces who then went on to have hugely successful seasons with former Lake Worth students Larry Sainglus, who played for Lake Worth's varsity and Corey Rivero, who transferred after he didn't receive playing time his freshman season.
  • A perennial doormat, Lake Worth's most recent football success, in 07-08, saw them throw away two oppurtunities to clinch their district championship in more than 20 years. After falling to district rival Park Vista in the regular season finale with the outright district championship on the line, Lake Worth squandored another oppurtunity after losing a three-way tiebreaker between John I Leonard (W) and Park Vista (L). It was the closest the football team to being crowned a champion in years. After losing D1 prospects Joseph Looney and Star Jackson, as well as future college players and standouts Douglas Perry, Roosevelt Watson, Willie Hall, amongst others, Lake Worth struggled to maintain their successes and subsequently posted a very disappointing 1-9 effort in 2008.
  • Trojan Athletics include:Basketball - BoysBasketball - GirlsBowlingCross CountryFootballJV FootballFlag FootballSoccer - BoysSoccer - GirlsSwim TeamVolleyballWrestling
  • Many student athletes have arisen from the intense athletics program at Lake Worth High School. Their long time crosstown rivals have been Santaluces Community High School Chiefs and most recently the Park Vista Community High School Cobras.
