This article is about the school in Largo, Florida. For the school in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, please see Largo High School . Largo High School is a high school located in Largo, Florida. The school's athletic teams are known as the Packers, and the school colors are blue and gold. Its current principal is Marjorie Sundstrom.
Largo has an active arts program which includes: Mixed Choir (beginners), Concert Choir (intermediate), Chamber Choir (advanced), Madrigal Singers (club), a new Beginning Band, Blue Band (intermediate), the Band of Gold (both a marching band and concert band), Jazz Band, and is home of Thespian Troop 911.
The school is home to the ExCEL program, formerly the 21st Century Learning Center and Teaching Arts Academy, a Pinellas County magnet program. The program focuses on using projects and interactive study to teach students instead of using textbooks.
More than 2,000 students are currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12.
National Championships
Largo High School was awarded the 1983 National Cross Country Championship through the XC Legacy series published through Milesplit.us in an effort to begin filling in the national rankings from 1980-1988. The Harrier Magazine, operated by Marc Bloom formerly of Runners World Magazine began keeping official rankings in 1989. On 1983 team: "The '83 Packers are regarded as the greatest prep cross country team in Florida history" and "I don't think any team in the country has four guys better than those four guys"
