The Georgia Book Awards' Quiz Bowl competitions for western Chatham County elementary schools took place recently at West Chatham Elementary School in Pooler. Divided into upper and lower grade teams of eight, youngsters fielded questions covering over 20 picture books or six chapter books read over the previous school term.

When Pooler Elementary School's PTA had to delay its annual Mother's Day celebration due to CRCT testing, members decided to change their traditional tea party theme as well. On May 14, they invited all the students' moms for an afternoon "Muffins With Mom" reception. The PTA supplied the punch and pastries, but the children served, cleaned up and supplied the entertainment.
