Coweta County school students have outscored their predecessors on the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), with 2009 scores coming in at the highest ever. The average 2009 SAT score increased to 1,516, a one-point increase over last year’s county-wide average. That score puts Coweta County’s average score 7 points over the national average on the college admissions test.

Team Georgia earned two All-America nods, including a national champion, from the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet National Championships, which concluded Saturday at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D.

Northgate High School wrestling will be holding its 16th annual Caveman wrestling camp June 22 - 25 from 9 to 4:30 at Northgate High School, Newnan.

"Filled to the maximum," describes Michael Berry's AP US History Classes at Northgate High School, according to Dr. Therese Reddikopp, Principal. Berry was recently recognized as the 2009 Outstanding Teacher of American History by the General Daniel Newnan Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Northgate High School is a high school located in northeastern Coweta County, in Newnan, Georgia. Northgate High School is the newest of the three Coweta County high schools. Prior to serving as a high school the school was used as a middle school.
Northgate offers four diploma choices: College Prep with Distinction, College Prep, Career/Technical with Distinction, and Career/Technical. Students may also choose a dual diploma program with both college prep and career/tech seals.
Feeder School includes Madras Middle School and Arnall Middle School. Madras also feeds into the nearby high school Newnan High School. The school mascot is the Vikings. Theproject20.com is Northgate's personal website for sports coverage.NGHS' athletic rival is McIntosh High School in neighboring Fayette County.

Carson Bird, Air Force Falcons football player, 2007 All-Conference and Sports Illustrated All-American.

Athletics
Northgate has achieved a few state champions in the class AAAA.Their most recent was their baseball team compiling a 32-5 record and an all region championchip game with Starr's Mill and defeating them in three games.Their competetion cheerleading has won state in 08' & 09'.Their softball won their first championship in 2007. The first state championship in school history was earned by the wrestling squad in 2002.
