School Notes:
  • Capital High School is a three-year public secondary school in Boise, Idaho. Opened in 1965, it was the third of four public high schools constructed in the city. The others are Boise (1902), Borah (1958), and Timberline High School (1999).
  • History
  • The School was constructed during the 1964-65 academic year and opened in the fall of 1965. The junior and senior class were composed of students from the existing public high schools, Boise and Borah, and the new school quickly melded into Capital Eagles.
  • Student life
  • The Golden Eagle is the official mascot of Capital High. Traditionally known as The Eagles, the school's various clubs, performing groups and sports teams are also referred to as the Capital Eagles.
  • Black, gold, and silver are the official colors of the school. Traditionally black and gold were the only colors that were represented on school uniforms, graduation gowns and letterman's jackets. However, present-day has the silver color prominent on all sports teams and at graduation.
  • The Capital High gymnasium is one of the largest in Idaho. It is host to the Pacific Northwest Dance Championships each spring. The Capital High Auditorium is also one of the largest in the state. Prior to the opening of Taco Bell Arena, it was used for numerous performing groups.
  • The TC Bird Planetarium sits on the campus and is widely used not only by the students (of Capital and other schools), but also by the community.
