  • Fenton High School, or FHS, is a public four-year high school located in Bensenville, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Community High School District 100.
  • History: High school education started in Bensenville as a two year, then three year high school serving the Bensenville area from 1917-1924 as part of Bensenville Elementary School District 2. In 1925 Community High School District 100 was founded with a four year program serving both Bensenville and Wood Dale. 1927 Bensenville Community High School was built. By 1951, the enrollment grew far beyond the building's capacity and a referendum was passed allowing the board to build a new building. Opened in September of 1955, the schooled was named Fenton Community High School after Frederick C. Fenton, the district's first superintendent.
  • Academics: In 2005, Fenton had an average composite ACT score of 19.6, and graduated 85.2% of its senior class. The average class size is 18.3. Fenton has not made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievement Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act.
  • Athletics: Fenton competes in the Metro Suburban Conference and Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Bison.
  • Fenton has found the greatest success in Girl's Bowling, Wrestling,Boy's Cross Country, and Boy's Track. The Girl's Bowling team has three team state titles, winning in 1985, 1988, and 1989 and adding a fourth place finish in 2000. It also has had 6 individual state medalist. The Wrestling squad won a state title in 1973. It also has had two athletics win a total of thee individual state titles, and 20 different individuals have combined for 26 state medals. As of the 2006-07 Boy's Cross Country has won 20 conference titles since 1977. It has also had over 50 all-conference athletes, including 9 individuals combining for 13 all-state medals. It has also earned two state trophies finishing 3rd in 1989 and 2nd in 1996. The Boy's Track Team has also had eleven individuals earn a total of 17 all-state medals, including 1 individual state championship.
  • Fall Sports: Boy's Cross Country, Girl's Cross Country, Football, Boy's Golf, Boy's Soccer, Girl's Swimming, Girl's Tennis, Girl's Volleyball.
  • Winter Sports: Boy's Basketball, Girl's Basketball, Boy's Bowling, Girl's Bowling, Girl's Gymnastics, Boy's Swimming, Wrestling.
  • Spring Sports: Badminton, Baseball, Boy's Gymnastics, Girl's Soccer, Softball, Boy's Tennis, Boy's Track & Field, Girl's Track & Field, Boy's Volleyball.
  • Activities: Cheerleading, Music-Instrumental, Music-Vocal, Pom Pon, Student Council.
  • Notable alumni: Jim Spivey, runner for the US Olympic team in 1984, 1992, and 1996; American Record holder in 2000m run.
  • Daren Dochterman, designer and illustrator for over 35 feature films.
