Galesburg High School senior Victor Davis scored 40 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to lead the Silver Streaks over Peoria Woodruff 65-51 in the opening games for both teams.

The Galesburg High School boys basketball team opens its season at 7:30 tonight at John Thiel Gymnasium against Peoria Woodruff in what will mark the first game of the final year of Warriors basketball. Woodruff will be shuttered following this school year as Peoria School District 150 struggles with finances.

The Galesburg High School girls basketball team was hammered on Friday 96-66 by state power Springfield on Saturday in the Silver Streaks' Thanksgiving Tournament. It was the most points allowed by a GHS team in school history.
