Tuscola High School was a mere 2 minutes 30 seconds away from another playoff football victory in the quarterfinals last year when a lost fumble and late touchdown allowed Concord Triopia to escape with a victory en route to the Class 1A state title. In Weeks 5 and 6, Jacksonville Routt absorbed back-to-back losses to Brown County and Concord Triopia by a combined score of 71-0. Then the defense got back on track. The Routt Rockets (9-3) haven’t allowed more than 14 points in a game since then, which is one of the biggest reasons they’ve advanced to Saturday’s Class 1A semifinal game at Tuscola. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
