Terre Haute North Vigo High School is a public high school located in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Overview
Terre Haute North (THN), or simply North, was opened in the fall of 1971, initially only for grades 10 through 12. The 9th grade was added during the 1993/1994 school year. The school mascot is the Patriot and the school colors are red, white and navy. Approximately 2,200 students are currently enrolled at North, in grades 9-12. The teacher to student ratio is 1 to 18, and the average expenditure per student is $8,847.^[1]

Academics
Terre Haute North is on a trimester schedule. Students have five seventy-minute periods per day every day for twelve weeks plus six-minute passing periods. THN uses the Core 40 curriculum. The school places a high priority on the success of both students and alumni.

Alumni
Notable alumni include Anthony Thompson, class of 1986, a record-setting running back at Indiana University, where he was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy voting in December 1989. Thompson received 1003 votes to winner Andre Ware's 1073 votes. Steve Weatherford, Punter of the New York Jets also attended North Vigo, where he played on the football, soccer, basketball, and track teams.
Athletics
There are 23 varsity sports teams at THN: boys' and girls' cross country, soccer, tennis, golf, chess, basketball, swimming & diving and track & field; boys' football, wrestling, and baseball; and girls' cheerleading, gymnastics and softball. Terre Haute North has been part of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference since 1996. At one time, it was embroiled in a controversy over its use of the copyrighted New England Patriots swept head logo. The school has announced a search for a new logo.Kayla fauber was the state runner up for the 1998 cross country state championship. She later became on the 2004 olympic team to finish 6th in the 5,000 meter.
