    The Newton Senior High School cheerleaders organized a “Trick or Canning” event on Saturday, Oct. 31, dressing in costumes and going door-to-door asking for non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army food pantry rather than candy for Halloween.   • Located in North West Newton, Kansas, Newton High School has a population of 1,358 students. Newton High School is the only secondary school for USD 373, Newton's Unified School District. The school's campus and Cedar tree surrounded parking lot make it a distinctive landmark in NW Newton, Kansas.
  • History
  • Historically, Newton High School has been housed in three distinct buildings, all of which are still in use. The old Lincoln School was the original building, Santa Fe Middle School was the second building and the present building was completed in early 1970s. The school newspaper is "The Newtonian".
  • Athletics/Activities
  • Students from grades 9-12 participate in football, volleyball, cross country, tennis, girls and boys basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, bowling, swimming, girls and boys soccer, baseball, softball, Boys and Girls golf and track and field, bowling. Activities available include cheerleading, Railiners Dance Team, Azteca Dancers, debate, forensics, FFA, GSA, KFC, [2], Drama, Music (Vocal, Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Orchestra), Science Olympiad, Model UN, and FIRST Robotics Team.

  • Currently, as of 2009, construction is being done on the school and it might be completed around 2010. This is one the few projects happening around USD 373. One of the main aspects of the construction is the new library being put up.
