  • Spirit Club
  • The Spirit Club has been responsible for many important events. One of the most popular events created was the Mr. North Harford High School Contest . The contest is essentially to determine who NH's best all around guy is. The contest features a series of contestants competing for the title and they must display a special talent, model evening wear, and swim wear and entertain the crowd.
  • The first contest was held in 2008. Ryan Polakoff was crowned the very first Mr. North Harford. He won the audience over with his dead-on impressions of President George Bush, Sean Connery, and the infamous German teacher, Herr Russell Blake. Polakoff also worked the crowd with his swimsuit wear, he proceeded to take off his beach shirt and comb his chesthair on stage. The second contest was in 2009. Polakoff came back to do stand-up comedy, he did new routines with his old impressions and several new impressions including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Seinfeld. Polakoff passed the title of Mr.NHHS to the 2009 Winner to Everett Glovier. Everett was very spontaneous on stage and did a variety of funny dance moves and won the crowd over with his extremely oversized fake beard. Polakoff was a guest judge that night as well and was quoted "the kid really knew how to work the audience, he did exactly what I told them all to do when I spoke to them before the performance, nice job."
  • Both are expected to return for the 2010 contest.
  • Symphonic Band
  • The symphonic band (a.k.a the Varsity Band)is a huge icon of NHHS. On July 4th 2008, NHHS performed King Cotton in the Bel Air Parade, winning 1st place. The NHHS band also plays in the Aberdeen Christmas Parade. One event new to the NHHS symphonic band is The Veteran's Day Concert which is highly attended. This band is under the direction of Mr. Andrew Griglock.

  • Major Controversies
  • 2003 Graduation Animal Neglect
  • On May 30, 2003, the day after graduation, students arrived to the high school to find that they were not allowed inside. As it turned out, the administrators were inside chasing down and trying to catch barn animals that had been released into the school sometime after the graduation the night before. To make matters worse, pennies were glued over all of the locks of the outside doors except for those by the gymnasium. A horse that had been released in the school got stuck in a stairwell, broke its leg, and had to be put down. After the animals were captured, the doors were opened and the school day went on like normal. However, the incident led to investigation by the police, who speculated that a group of 4-6 people snuck into the on-campus barn and used a truck to haul the animals from the barn into the school. It is suspected that one of the parties involved was a member of FFA and may have had a key into the barn.
  • 2008 Graduation Vandalism
  • On the night of May 29th, 2008, the night of graduation, held elsewhere at Aberdeen High school, a group of students went to the school and spray-painted all over the school; spray-painting 08's on the poles, as well as vulgar language and insults directed at the school and the administration. In addition the keyholes were glued shut.this lead to a full scale investigation between the school and the local police, and the school put a $500 reward to inform the school on who the vandals were. After an unknown informant had told the administration who had done the vandalism, the group of students were arrested and suspended school property for an unknown amount of time. All of the spray-paint had to be power-washed off the building.

  • -2008 Outlook - This should be an interesting year, as the Hawks are without quarterback Dan Griffin and the versatile big man who could play offense and defense Corey Jubb. The Hawks, now a younger team, may find it a tad bit more difficult to duplicate the success they had last year.

  • Track and Field2008 The track season fostered many strong athletes. Athletes who made it to the state tournament include, Sarah Meehan, Samantha Dixon, Roger Banks, and Mike Ramos.
