School Notes:
  • Dover-Sherborn High School, or D-S, is a regional public high school in the town of Dover, Massachusetts, United States. The school is located at 9 Junction St., Dover. The student population is drawn from Dover and its neighboring town, Sherborn. Like most high schools, it enrolls 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The two towns approved over $1 million in renovations to the buildings and grounds. The School's athletic rival has always been the neighboring town of Medfield.
  • History: Until the 1960's Dover and Sherborn both sent their high school students to neighboring town's high schools (Needham for Dover, Framingham for Sherborn). By the 1950s the population boom was making it difficult for those schools to accept outside students, and the two towns opted to create a regional school district. The first building was built on Farm Street in 1962. As the population continued to increase, the current high school was built on the same campus and completed in 1968. In 2004, renovations on the high school were completed.
  • Extracurricular activities: The school offers and competes competitively in a number of sports, including football, cross country, golf, field hockey, basketball, alpine and Nordic skiing, swimming, gymnastics, baseball, lacrosse, track and field, and sailing.
  • Dover-Sherborn High School has seen high athletic success in Men's Basketball and recently in Men's Lacrosse. Several Basketball TVL Championships have been won over the last thirty years under the leadership of coach Chris DuBose, the most recent coming in 2004-05. In 2002, the Women's Basketball team made it to the State Championships, played in the Fleet Center (now the TD Bank North Garden). Although they lost, the team was responsible for the resurgence of Dover-Sherborn women's basketball program's popularity.
  • The 2004 D-S Football team had a record 9-win season. Offensively, the team was a powerhouse, finishing 3rd in the state in total points with an array of skill position players and a powerful offensive line. The season finished in a magical fashion, with the thrilling defeat of archrival Medfield on Thanksgiving Day by a score of 35-34. Football success, hard to come by before the dream 2004 season, has also failed to return since. The excitement generated throughout the community by that campaign and the impact on and off the field particlarly from the twelve seniors on that team, however, has brought new life to the school's athletic program as a whole.
  • The Boy's Tennis team finished the 2006 season with a remarkable 16-0 record, and did well in the post-season until an injury cost them a deciding match. Captains Brian Schiller and Zach Patterson were the catalysts to the team's success as the dynamic duo dominated in their first doubles spot.
  • The school is also part of The Education Co-operative (TEC), which allows D-S students to take part in internships with local companies and also enroll in TEC Classes.
  • The Dover-Sherborn Drama Department puts on two productions a year, an autumn play and spring musical. Notable productions include: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Wiz, Seussical, Pippin, Godspell, The Odd Couple, Anything Goes, and Les Misérables.
  • Notable alumni: Todd Robert Anderson, commercial actor and television guest performer on shows such as "Clueless (TV series)", "Will and Grace", and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
  • Patrick Bresnehan, former pitcher for the Arizona State University baseball team. Drafted 140th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2006.
  • Jennifer Trainor, a Boston based vocalist who just released her second album, "Let's get away from it all."
  • Chad Urmston, of the rock groups Dispatch and State Radio.
  • Matt Perdoni, Defensive End for the University of New Hampshire football team. Matt is son of Renso "Rock" Perdoni former first Lombardi finalist while playing Defensive Tackle at Georgia Tech University.
