MARQUETTE - Many area school districts have lost students this academic year, yet some smaller districts saw an increase during the state's official student count day Wednesday. The biggest increase in students occurred at North Star Academy, with 97 more students than last year.

MARQUETTE - In a recent meeting, North Star Academy discussed the arrival of its temporary classrooms for its new elementary school. "We had three delivered last week and one is coming today," CEO Karen Anderson said this morning, adding that the four parts will be constructed into two classrooms complete with windows, restrooms and offices.

MARQUETTE - North Star Academy students may have found a new temporary home at Northern Michigan University, while the charter school's new elementary school is being built. "Northern does have classroom space for us," said CEO Karen Anderson. "We can send middle and high school students there.
