CLAY TWP. -- An off-duty Detroit police officer is being credited with saving the lives of two Clay Township men after one fell out of a boat Tuesday on Lake St. Clair's Bouvier Bay. Ira Township Fire Chief Mike Holt said firefighters from his department and Clay Township were called to the lake about 5:20 p.m. after someone noticed an unoccupied boat going around in circles.

The Women's Initiative of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County has joined with other local organizations to offer eight Family Read Nights at elementary schools throughout the county. Every child who attends will receive at least one free book.
