As a Jackson-area educator, Paul Chilcote said he always dressed conservatively. Then he became principal of Vandercook Lake's Townsend Elementary School, and his habits changed.

Oscar Perry didn't need his school books for the more than six hours he spent away from home Monday. The first-grader at Jackson's Sharp Park Academy began his spring break with a splash at the Jackson YMCA as he joined more than 40 children ages 4 to 7 in its pool.

□ Nellie H. Edwards has recently celebrated her 101tst birthday. She was visited by fellow members of the Mary Magdalene Missionary Circle of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church, and fellow centenarian, Mrs. Cora Warren, to help celebrate her life milestone.
