    Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District employees participated in their annual opening day to kick off the 2009-10 school year. Many of the district's employees have spent the summer months on break and returned Friday for an orientation to hear what the new school year will bring.

    Students attending Pied Piper Opportunity Center will see a decrease in the cost of meals for the 2009-10 school year. The Alpena Montmorency Alcona Board of Education approved the set student meal prices at its July meeting. Superintendent Brian Wilmot said the AMA ESD entered into a contractual agreement with Alpena Public Schools in Jun.
