Little Rock School District officials believes converting Cloverdale Middle School into a charter school will give it the turnaround it needs. It's in its seventh year of being on the Arkansas School Improvement List and needs a dramatic change to boost test scores, Dr. James Jennings said.

The Little Rock School district experienced a massive 847 student plunge in 2008, but this fall reports show only 11 students have disappeared. To shore up things for the future, district leaders are considering making Cloverdale Middle School Little Rock's first conversion charter school.
