    Grand Forks Public Schools have seen increases in absent students reporting flu-like symptoms, but it's not at a pandemic level, Superintendent Larry Nybladh said. Central High School had a total of 183 ill students absent today - about 18 percent of the total enrollment. The school had a fairly steady level of absences throughout the week.

    The Minnesota Health Department is reporting a surge in the number of schools reporting flu outbreaks, but the East Grand Forks district hasn't seen widespread flu illness yet this year. If 5 percent or more of a school's students are out with flu-like illnesses, the school must notify the state department under current guidelines.
