Maple Grove Senior High (MGSH) was the third public high school built by Osseo School District 279 and it opened in 1996. MGSH is the only public high school (besides OSH) located in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
- School overview
-
Maple Grove Senior High is one of three, three-year public high schools in the Osseo Area School District 279. It primarily serves the cities of Maple Grove and Osseo, but students from other areas such as Plymouth, Corcoran and Dayton also attend the high school. The racial makeup of the nearly 2000 students attending the school is 93% Caucasian, 3% Asian-American and 3% African-American, with the remaining 1% Hispanic or Native American. The school mascot is leafy the leaf, a red and gold maple leaf. The school offers vast extracurricular activities such as National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics program and an active student council. The school stresses academic and extracurricular success and has been successful in both fields. Students attending MGSH (and any other senior high school in the Osseo School District) must earn 64 credits out of 72 credits to graduate. Even though the Osseo School District uses the older senior high system of grades 10-12 instead of grades 9-12, a student must gain credits from junior high school once in 9th grade.
- Academic assessment

In 2005, the Maple Grove Senior High football team had an undefeated 8-0 record (winning the Northwest Suburban Conference) and earned a No. 1 ranking in the state. - SAGE Lawsuit
-
In 2003, students involved with Maple Grove Senior High student group Straights and Gays for Equality (SAGE) approached OutFront Minnesota [2] to discuss the school's restrictions on SAGE's ability to advertise in the school in the same manner as other student groups. In 2005, the ACLU filed a lawsuit against the Osseo School District and Maple Grove Senior High on behalf of SAGE. The lawsuit argued that Maple Grove Senior High had violated the Federal Equal Access Act when it refused to allow SAGE the same access (hall posters and the PA system) as other student groups. In April 2006, U.S. District Judge Joan Ericksen issued a temporary injunction, requiring that the school allow SAGE the same access as other student groups. The Osseo School District appealed that injunction, but the appeal was denied by Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in December 2006. In August 2008, a federal appeals court issued a permanent injunction, requiring Maple Grove Senior High to allow SAGE the same access as other student groups.
