In his three months as principal at Hillsboro Elementary School, Terrence Beam has set several goals to improve and build on the education system at the school. During the joint board of education and LSIC (Local School Improvement Council) meeting at HES , Beam shared his goals with board members.
BOE reviews plans for HES Needs Project (The Pocahontas Times)

The board of education reviewed the specifics of the Needs Project for Hillsboro Elementary School at Monday’s meeting. The board has been working with Williamson Shriver Architects, Inc. to design the project plan for funding. Once the plan is completed, it will be sent to the School Building Authority for approval.

Sept. 27: An activity complaint was filed in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. A dog complaint was checked in the 300 block of North Ash Street. A motorist received assistance in the 400 block of North Ash Street.
Board expels two PCHS students for possession (The Pocahontas Times)

The board of education expelled two female Pocahontas County High School students Monday night for possession/use of a controlled substance on a school bus and being under the influence at school. Board president Kenneth Vance addressed the students after the decision was made.
HES to host book fair (Hillsboro Star-Journal)

Hillsboro Elementary School will host a book fair Oct. 13-17 at its library. The fair offers a wide variety of children’s, activity, and cook books, posters, calendars, and gift items, along with computer CDs.
