SILVER LAKE — John Gendron of Silver Lake has earned an Oscar — for education. Gendron, principal of Elkhorn Middle School, has received the Milken Educator Award, sometimes referred to as the Oscar award of teaching, including a $25,000 cash prize.

John Gendron was presented Wednesday morning with the Milken Educator award and joins a group of 50 educators nationwide selected as this year’s leaders of quality of education. He is the only Wisconsin educator to receive the award this year.
