This year 250 youth athletes played tackle football in the Gretna Youth Sports Foundation. Mark Simmons, president of the Foundation, said the 11 teams made up of third- through eighth-graders used the green space across from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Gretna Middle School to meet. Games were played at the middle school football field.
