HOLLIS – For years, drivers passing through the intersection of state routes 130 and 122, often referred to as “The Four Corners,” have had to deal with backed-up traffic, the result of vehicles waiting to make a left-hand turn at the light.

During a speech he made to local schoolchildren several years ago, Hollis resident Jim Belanger quoted an unnamed author who wrote: “A veteran, whether active duty, retired, a member of the National Guard, or a member of the Reserve, is someone who, at one point of his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America, for an amount of up to and including my life.”
